In a shocking turn of events, Luke Fleurs, a defender for Kaiser Chiefs, was tragically killed in an attempted robbery in Honeydew North on Wednesday night.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, spokesperson for the Gauteng Police, Fleurs was at a petrol station on 14th Avenue, driving a red VW Golf 8 GTI.

Masondo stated, "While waiting to be serviced by the petrol attendant, he was confronted by two armed suspects, who were driving a white BMW 1 Series."

"The suspects pointed a firearm at him and took him out of his vehicle, then fired a shot at his upper body. One suspect drove off with his car, while the other fled in their vehicle."

Masondo mentioned that Fleurs was rushed to the nearest medical facility where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
